Anson Case diary, 1863.

A pocket diary kept by Anson Case, a cobbler and farmer in Canton Center, Connecticut. During the winter months Case worked for the Collins Co. in Collinsville, Connecticut, making Army and Cavalry "picks" and filing bayonets. Additionally, Case gave violin lessons. His diary contains entries about the weather, war news, local marriages, deaths, church services, and similar topics. A Democrat, Case opposed the policies of Governor Buckingham and the military draft.
